Where it came from
The Ones Within (Naka no Hito Genome) OVA was released in 2020 as a special addition to the television anime adaptation of Osora’s manga series. Produced by the studio SILVER LINK, the project was designed to provide a concluding or supplementary narrative arc following the 12-episode series that aired in 2019. It maintains the studio's aesthetic approach, balancing the psychological tension of the original survival-game premise with the character-driven humor that defined the adaptation's tone.
The animation direction for the series and its OVA sought to translate Osora’s distinct character designs into a vibrant, high-contrast visual style suitable for television. While the series received mixed reviews regarding its narrative pacing, the OVA was produced to satisfy the interest of the existing fanbase, focusing on the dynamic between the captives forced to participate in live-streamed games. It remains a representative example of SILVER LINK's work during a period where they were heavily involved in adapting various light novel and manga titles for the contemporary streaming market.
