Where it came from
The Remarried Empress originated as a highly popular South Korean web novel written by Alphatart, which was subsequently adapted into a celebrated webtoon illustrated by Sumpul. The narrative explores the complex political and romantic life of Navier Ellie Trovi, who finds herself caught in a scandalous royal divorce, and its themes of agency and resilience have garnered a massive international following.
Following the sustained success of the source material, the animation studio TROYCA was announced to produce an anime adaptation. TROYCA is recognized for its polished aesthetic and character-driven animation, having previously worked on high-profile projects like Re:Creators and Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files. The production aims to translate the intricate court dynamics and elegant period-inspired designs of the webtoon into a vibrant, animated television format.
