The title character of Tomoe ga Yuku! (Tomoe Will Go!) is gutsy enough to roller skate down freeways for thrills. After losing a friend in a roller skating accident, Tomoe joins a stunt group called Green Ship. Although still mourning her friend's death, Tomoe has no reservations about embracing a relationship with the group's leader, Kazusa. Soon she discovers Green Ship is a front for an assassin training camp. She must flee her new life and love and rekindle her fiery spirit in order to fight against the organization which wants her dead.

Where it came from
There Goes Tomoe!, or Tomoe ga Iku!, was released in 1991 as an original video animation produced by Movic. It serves as an adaptation of the manga series by author and illustrator Chieko Hara, capturing the lighthearted, episodic nature of the source material. During this period, the OVA format was the primary vehicle for niche manga titles to reach a wider audience outside of traditional television broadcast constraints, allowing studios to experiment with shorter, self-contained narratives.
The production sought to translate Hara's distinct aesthetic into animation, focusing on the comedic elements and character-driven interactions that defined the print version. While the work remains a deep-cut title within the 1990s anime landscape, it is often noted by collectors of the era for its representation of the period's stylistic transition in cel animation. It was received as a modest, character-centric entry in the genre, aimed primarily at existing fans of the manga who were seeking to see the cast brought to life through movement and voice.
