Synopsis

Finding himself back in time 10 years ago, though technically an almost parallel world in 2009, Pei Qian got a system where he gets money to run his business. The funds for business and personal use are separated. After a set period, he can earn his personal funds according to how much his business funds he has left. The catch? Pei Qian earns more when he makes a loss in his business funds. Happily thinking how easy it would be, with many failed start-ups proving a point, Pei Qian founded his company Tengda and achieved financial freedom through the losses. Unfortunately, fate has other plans for him.

Provenance

Where it came from

The Richest Man in Game is an ONA (Original Net Animation) series adapted from a web novel published under the China Literature umbrella. Emerging from the massive ecosystem of Chinese web fiction, the adaptation was produced to capitalize on the popularity of the 'urban system' and 'gaming' subgenres, which focus on protagonists who gain extraordinary wealth or abilities through digital interfaces. The project reflects the studio's broader strategy of translating high-traffic literary IPs into serialized visual media to reach a younger, digitally native audience.

The character design and visual direction lean into tropes common in modern donghua, prioritizing dynamic, high-contrast aesthetics that emphasize the protagonist's transition from an ordinary individual to one of immense influence. As part of a crowded landscape of adaptations, the series was produced to maintain engagement within China Literature’s platforms, aiming to translate the fast-paced, episodic gratification of the source material into a visual format. It is regarded by the community as a representative entry in the studio’s efforts to streamline web novel narratives for global digital streaming.
