The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of the Commandments

The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of the Commandments was released in 2018 as the second season of the long-running anime adaptation of Nakaba Suzuki’s popular manga series. Produced by A-1 Pictures, the season focuses on the return of the Ten Commandments, a group of powerful antagonists, and shifts the tone of the narrative toward more intense, high-stakes conflicts. It continued the studio's attempt to translate Suzuki's distinct character designs and fantasy world-building into a fluid animation format, serving as a pivot point for the series' lore.

The production of this series marked a significant moment for A-1 Pictures, as the studio leaned heavily into the established popularity of the manga to expand the franchise’s global footprint. While the reception was mixed among longtime fans due to shifts in visual fidelity compared to the first season, it remains a critical chapter in the series' history. The design work largely adhered to the established aesthetics of the source material, balancing the whimsical fantasy elements of the Kingdom of Liones with the darker, more visceral imagery introduced by the villains.
