Let the forces of evil tremble in fear (along with wealthy merchants and innocent bystanders)... THE SLAYERS ARE BACK! Join the not-so-heroic adventures of Lina Inverse--the super-cute sorceress who steals from the rich and keeps it for herself! Along with her sword-swinging (but dumber than dirt) sidekick, Gourry, her hyper-enthusiastic protégé, Amelia, and the tormented and overly-serious golem, Zelgadis, there's nothing Lina can't do!

Where it came from
The Slayers Next, released in 1996, served as the second television season for the popular fantasy-comedy anime franchise based on the light novels by Hajime Kanzaka. Produced by J.C.Staff and directed by Takashi Watanabe, this installment was created to capitalize on the success of the 1995 original series, further expanding the chaotic adventures of the sorceress Lina Inverse and her companions. It was intended to deepen the overarching mythology of the series while maintaining the series' signature blend of slapstick humor and high-stakes magical combat.
The character designs for the series were handled by Rui Araizumi, whose distinct visual style defined the aesthetic of the Slayers franchise. Araizumi aimed to retain the whimsical, high-energy look of the light novels while adapting them for the constraints of 1990s television animation. Upon its debut, the series was well-received by audiences and critics alike, praised for its improved pacing and the introduction of more complex dramatic arcs compared to its predecessor, cementing its status as a staple of 1990s fantasy anime.
