The Testament of Sister New Devil BURST

The Testament of Sister New Devil BURST was produced in 2015 by Production IMS as the second season of the anime adaptation based on the light novel series written by Tetsuto Uesu. The series emerged during a period of high popularity for the 'ecchi' fantasy subgenre, serving as a direct continuation of the narrative involving Basara Tojo and his stepsisters as they navigate a complex supernatural power struggle. The production aimed to maintain the high-octane action and provocative character designs established in the first season, though it faced the characteristic scheduling and financial pressures that defined much of the studio's output during that era.

The visual direction and character designs, adapted for the screen by Yoshihiro Watanabe, prioritized a stylized, high-contrast aesthetic intended to emphasize both the supernatural combat sequences and the series' core romantic themes. Upon its release, the series was received primarily by a niche audience of genre enthusiasts who focused on its blend of harem tropes and shonen-style battles. While it remains a notable example of mid-2010s fan-service-heavy animation, critical discussion often centers on the challenges faced by the studio during its production cycle, which ultimately influenced the visual consistency of the final television broadcast.
