Where it came from
The Testament of Sister New Devil BURST: Tojo Basara’s Perfectly Peaceful Daily Life was released in 2016 as an original video animation (OVA) bundled with the limited edition of the ninth volume of the light novel series written by Tetsuto Uesu. Produced by studio Production IMS, this installment serves as a companion piece to the BURST anime adaptation, focusing on a self-contained narrative intended to expand upon the domestic interactions of the series' core cast.
The animation was crafted to maintain the fan-service-oriented aesthetic established by the television series, leaning heavily into the romantic comedy and supernatural tropes synonymous with the franchise. As a side story, it was developed primarily for the existing fan base of the light novels, providing a lighthearted look at the characters' lives outside of the main series' higher-stakes conflict. It is viewed as a niche collectible item designed specifically for dedicated followers of the source material.
