Where it came from
The Testament of Sister New Devil: Tojo Basara's Hard, Sweet Daily Life was produced by Production IMS and released in 2015 as an original video animation. It serves as a supplemental episode to the broader anime adaptation of Tetsuto Uesu's light novel series. This installment was crafted to lean into the fan-service-oriented tone that defined the franchise, focusing on intimate character interactions that were typical of the series' transition from high-stakes fantasy narrative to domestic character vignettes.
The animation design follows the established aesthetic of the series' 2015 television run, prioritizing expressive character models and the specific stylistic tropes characteristic of the harem genre at the time. While the series as a whole garnered mixed critical reception due to its reliance on excessive tropes, this particular OVA was produced specifically for a niche audience already invested in the character dynamics, functioning primarily as a collector's companion to the original broadcast.
