The Troubled Life of Miss Kotoura: Haruka no Heya

The Troubled Life of Miss Kotoura: Haruka no Heya, known in Japanese as Kotoura-san: Haruka no Heya, was released in 2012 as a series of short ONA (Original Net Animation) segments. Produced by studio AIC, these episodes served as a promotional companion piece to the main television anime adaptation of the four-panel manga by Enokizu. The ONA was designed to introduce viewers to the premise of Haruka Kotoura, a girl gifted with the ability to read minds, while establishing the series' blend of comedic and poignant dramatic tones.

The animation style mirrors the aesthetic of the broader Kotoura-san franchise, focusing on expressive character designs that translate the simple, punchy humor of the original manga into a short-form digital format. By providing a glimpse into Haruka’s daily life, these shorts were intended to deepen the audience's connection to the lead character before the full television broadcast. While the ONA remains a niche entry, it is recognized by fans as a foundational part of the franchise's development and marketing strategy during the 2012 release window.
