The World God Only Knows II

The World God Only Knows II was produced by Manglobe and aired in 2011 as a direct sequel to the initial adaptation of Tamiki Wakaki's manga series. The project was conceived during a period of high productivity for the studio, aiming to translate the complex 'dating sim' narrative structure of the source material into an episodic television format. The production maintained the series' established aesthetic, characterized by its bright color palettes and character-driven focus, which helped define the romantic comedy genre during the early 2010s.

The design and direction were helmed by Shigehito Takayanagi, who sought to capture the specific rhythm of the manga’s protagonist, Keima Katsuragi, as he navigated various heroine story arcs. Upon its release, the series was received as a faithful adaptation that successfully balanced the self-aware humor of the premise with genuine character development. It is widely regarded as a representative example of how animation studios of that era approached the adaptation of light novels and manga within the harem genre.
