Where it came from
The Yellow Ball, an animated short produced by Geidai Animation, emerged from the prestigious Tokyo University of the Arts graduate animation program. It was developed within a pedagogical environment that prioritizes experimental techniques and the distinct vision of individual creators, often serving as a culmination of the rigorous craft training found within the Geidai curriculum.
The piece reflects the studio's broader commitment to hand-drawn aesthetics and poetic storytelling, characteristics that frequently define their output. By focusing on minimalist visual motifs and atmospheric pacing, the work was designed to explore abstract emotional states through the lens of traditional cel and digital hybrid animation, receiving appreciation within academic and independent film festival circles for its technical precision and artistic focus.
