The anime focuses on an art club in a certain middle school, and its members: Subaru Uchimaki, who is a genius at drawing faces, but only wants to draw the perfect 2D wife; Colette, a rich troublemaker who never stops making mischief; and the club president, who sleeps through sessions and collects sleeping aids. Mizuki Usami is the only person in the club who wants to do art club-like activities, and constantly struggles to do so.

Where it came from
This Art Club Has a Problem!, known in Japan as Kono Bijutsubu ni wa Mondai ga Aru!, began as a manga series by Imigimuru in 2012 before being adapted into a twelve-episode television anime series by studio feel. in 2016. The series focuses on the daily lives of members in a middle school art club, specifically highlighting the romantic frustrations between the talented but indifferent Uchimaki, who only wants to draw his 'perfect 2D wife,' and the earnest, frustrated Usami.
Studio feel. aimed to capture the gentle, comedic tone of the original manga, employing a clean, bright animation style that emphasizes the character-driven humor typical of school-life comedies of the era. The series was generally well-received for its lighthearted approach and successful adaptation of the manga's idiosyncratic visual gags, serving as a quintessential example of the mid-2010s slice-of-life genre.
