Those Who Hunt Elves II

Those Who Hunt Elves II was produced by Group TAC and released in 1997 as a direct continuation of the 1996 anime series. Following the success of the initial adaptation of Yuu Tanaka's manga, the studio aimed to maintain the frantic, genre-bending energy of the source material. This second installment continued the premise of a human trio transported to a fantasy world, tasked with finding elven magical tattoo fragments to return home, a conceit that intentionally satirized common isekai and role-playing game tropes of the era.

The character designs and animation style were crafted to emphasize the series' blend of slapstick comedy and ecchi elements, common in the mid-nineties manga adaptation wave. Under Group TAC's direction, the show leaned into the chaotic visual language that defined the original manga, resulting in a production that was received by contemporary viewers as a quintessential example of the irreverent, self-aware fantasy comedies popular in the Japanese market during the late nineties.
