Where it came from
Tick Tack is a short animated film produced by the students and faculty at Tokyo University of the Arts, known as Geidai Animation. Emerging from one of Japan's most prestigious fine arts institutions, the project serves as a showcase for the rigorous technical training and experimental storytelling fostered within the university's animation department, which emphasizes individual artistic vision over mass-market commercial output.
The film is celebrated for its distinctive visual aesthetic, which often reflects the diverse creative influences of the students involved. By moving away from conventional commercial animation tropes, the creators aim to explore textural depth and narrative abstraction, a stylistic choice that has earned the work critical recognition at international animation festivals for its craftsmanship and unique creative voice.
