Where it came from
To Be Winner is an original net animation produced by Colored Pencil Animation, a studio recognized for its focus on 2D digital artistry within the Chinese animation market. Released as part of a trend toward short-form, high-concept web series, the show was created to explore themes of competitive gaming and personal ambition, reflecting the burgeoning e-sports culture that gained significant traction in East Asia during the mid-2010s.
The series design aesthetic prioritizes fluid character movement and dynamic action sequences, hallmarks of the studio's stylistic approach to digital animation. By centering the narrative on the intense environment of professional gaming, the production team aimed to capture the tension of competitive play through stylized visuals. Upon release, it was noted for its relatively niche appeal, serving as an early example of how digital studios could independently develop content to serve specific online subcultures without traditional broadcast intervention.
