Where it came from
Tokidoki Bosotto Rossiya-go de Dereru Tonari no Alya-san, often abbreviated as Alya-san, originated as a light novel series written by SunSunSun and illustrated by Momoco. Following the success of the first season produced by Doga Kobo, which premiered in 2024 and garnered significant attention for its character-driven narrative and linguistic premise, a second season was officially announced by KADOKAWA to continue the story of the titular Russian-speaking student Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou and her classmate Masachika Kuze.
The production of the second season aims to maintain the high-quality animation and voice acting standards established in the initial run. The design philosophy centers on adapting the romantic comedy dynamics and the intricate subtext of the original light novel, with KADOKAWA leveraging its extensive distribution network to meet the anticipation of an international audience that has grown around the series' central gimmick of hidden multilingual dialogue.
