Where it came from
Tomb Raider King originated as a popular South Korean webtoon written by San-ji-jik and illustrated by 3Rabbit, which was adapted into a television animation series produced by STUDIO EEK. The narrative follows the protagonist, Seo Joo-heon, as he navigates a world transformed by the appearance of mysterious tombs containing powerful artifacts, blending elements of high-stakes fantasy with modern-day dungeon-crawling tropes.
The adaptation by STUDIO EEK aimed to translate the fast-paced, action-heavy aesthetic of the source material into a dynamic animated format. The production focuses on the interplay between relic-hunting mechanics and the protagonist's quest for revenge, reflecting the broader trend of webtoon-to-screen adaptations that dominated the Korean entertainment landscape during the early 2020s.
