An elite soldier, whose nickname is God of Death, is transferred to another unit known as the PaPaRa Army. The PaPaRa Army is infamous for its elite but hilariously crazy members. There is no plot to speak of other than humour, hilarious brutality, and general nonsense. This is also Matsuzawa-sensei's debut work.

Where it came from
Totsugeki! Pappara-tai, known in English as Charge! Pappara Squad, was produced by Studio Magic Bus and released as a television series in 1998. It is an adaptation of the manga series by Katsumi Yamaguchi, which serialized in Monthly Shonen Gangan. The show emerged during a period of experimentation within the comedy-fantasy anime genre, aiming to capture the chaotic and irreverent spirit of the original manga while navigating the technical constraints of late-nineties television production.
The series design and aesthetic focus on a surreal, absurdist approach to the magical girl and fantasy tropes prevalent at the time. Directed by Shigeru Ueda, the production team attempted to translate the manga's rapid-fire gags into an animated format, often relying on exaggerated character expressions and deliberate inconsistencies to mirror the source material's offbeat tone. Upon its release, it received a modest reception, noted primarily by genre enthusiasts for its dedication to unconventional humor rather than traditional narrative structure.
