The bloodlines of “Oni” and “Momotarou” have been passed down among certain humans for generations.
Long ago, the Oni, aware of their own ferocity, lived in seclusion. However, their peace was shattered by an invasion led by Momotarou. Over thousands of years, these two factions formed the “Momotarou Agency” and the “Oni Agency,” respectively, and have been locked in conflict ever since.
The protagonist, Shiki Ichinose, suddenly learns of his Oni lineage following an unexpected attack by Momotarou. This revelation sets Shiki on a path to discover the destiny that lies within his blood — a meeting with the Oni dwelling within him.
—A new generation of dark heroics begins here in this tale of demons!

Where it came from
Tougen Anki is a television anime series slated for release in 2025, adapted from the popular supernatural action manga series written and illustrated by Yura Urushibara. The narrative explores a reimagining of the Momotaro legend, centering on Shiki Ichinose, a boy who discovers he is a descendant of the oni after his home is attacked, thrusting him into a hidden war between the Peach Guardians and the oni clans. The production is overseen by Pony Canyon, aiming to translate Urushibara’s stylized, high-contrast aesthetic and kinetic battle sequences into a dynamic animated format.
The series design draws heavily from the manga’s unique blend of folklore and modern urban fantasy. Urushibara’s original work, serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion, garnered significant attention for its subversive take on traditional Japanese mythology and its visceral character designs. The anime production aims to capture this sharp, visceral quality, focusing on the tension between the protagonist's human upbringing and his emerging oni heritage, reflecting the series' exploration of identity and morality.
