Where it came from
The Tougen Anki: Nikko Kegon Falls Arc is a 2026 television adaptation produced by Studio Hibari, drawing from the popular manga series written and illustrated by Yura Urushibara. This narrative arc was developed as part of the ongoing effort to translate the series' high-energy supernatural combat and dark folklore themes into an animated format, focusing on the character-driven expansion of the Oni lore established in the original publication.
Studio Hibari approached this production with a focus on dynamic action choreography and atmospheric world-building, aiming to capture the stark, visceral aesthetic of the source material. As a relatively recent entry in the franchise, the adaptation received attention for its faithfulness to Urushibara's character designs, seeking to satisfy an established fanbase while expanding the reach of the series through contemporary animation techniques.
