Where it came from
Trillion Game is a 2024 anime television series produced by Studio Madhouse, based on the popular manga written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by Ryoichi Ikegami. The story centers on Haru and Gaku, two disparate individuals who partner to accumulate one trillion dollars in order to gain the power to acquire anything they desire in the world. The series emerged from a landscape of seinen manga characterized by high-stakes business maneuvering and charismatic, morally ambiguous protagonists, aiming to blend corporate strategy with the kinetic energy of a heist narrative.
The character designs and visual direction were crafted to reflect the bold, gritty artistic style synonymous with Ikegami’s illustrations, emphasizing sharp contrasts and intense facial expressions that convey the protagonists' relentless ambition. The series was developed as part of a broader multimedia expansion for the franchise, following its success as both a long-running manga and a live-action Japanese drama. Its reception has been largely defined by interest in its fast-paced, manipulative approach to the tech startup ecosystem and the compelling dynamic between the two leads.
