In town surrounded by quicksand, an outlaw from Vash the Stampede's past has resurfaced after twenty years. His name is Gasback - and he's looking to cause a little trouble. It seems Gasback has a serious beef with the town's mayor, who's paying dozens of bounty hunters to protect his turf.
One of those hired guns is a beautiful woman with a vendetta against Gasback. Will she get a shot at revenge? Maybe, if she can get through Gasback's bodyguard, Wolfwood. And what's Vash got to do with this mess? Nothing much - except for the fact that he personally set off the entire chain of events two decades ago!

Where it came from
Released in 2010 by the renowned studio Madhouse, Trigun: Badlands Rumble marked the return of Vash the Stampede to the screen twelve years after the conclusion of the original television series. Produced to celebrate the franchise's enduring popularity, the film serves as a standalone adventure set within the timeline of the show. It was directed by Satoshi Nishimura, who aimed to preserve the distinct blend of high-octane Western-inspired action and the philosophical depth that defined Yasuhiro Nightow’s original manga and the 1998 anime adaptation.
The film’s design language leans heavily into the signature aesthetic established by the late 1990s anime, utilizing a mixture of traditional cel-style animation and early digital integration to capture the dusty, desolate atmosphere of Planet Gunsmoke. Critical reception was largely positive, with long-time fans praising the production for maintaining the character dynamics of Vash, Meryl, and Milly while successfully translating the frantic, comedic energy of the source material into a feature-length format.
