Where it came from
UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie 2: December Nocturne serves as the second television series adaptation of the manga series written by Kaishaku. Produced by the studio TNK and released in 2003, this installment continues the lighthearted science fiction and harem narrative established in the original series, focusing on the complex relationship between the high-ranking alien princess Valkyrie and the human youth Kazuto.
The production sought to balance its predecessor's comedic tone with more emotionally resonant character development, particularly regarding Valkyrie’s shifting identity. While the series was aimed at fans of the original manga and early 2000s anime tropes, it is remembered as part of a significant era for ADV Films, which played a pivotal role in localizing and distributing niche anime titles to Western markets during this period.
