Uirouuri Douchuu

Uirouuri Douchuu was produced by the students and staff at the Tokyo University of the Arts, or Geidai, as part of their dedicated animation program. The project functions as a creative exercise intended to showcase the technical proficiency and artistic voice of emerging animators within an academic environment, focusing on the preservation and interpretation of traditional Japanese cultural motifs through the lens of contemporary animation.

The film draws inspiration from the famous Uirou-uri kabuki play, a classic piece of Japanese performance art known for its rhythmic tongue twister and historical connection to Odawara. The design approach prioritizes stylized motion and expressive character work, aiming to bridge the gap between historical theatrical storytelling and modern visual narrative. It is regarded by collectors of independent animation as a refined example of experimental student-led studio production.
