Where it came from
The UN-GO episode:0 Chapter of Inga was produced by Studio Bones as a prequel to the 2011 television series UN-GO. It was crafted to provide necessary narrative context for the series, exploring the initial meeting between the protagonist Shinjurō Yūki and his mysterious companion Inga. The project was intended to ground the series' surreal mystery elements in a structured origin story that explains the pair's symbiotic relationship.
The production sought to maintain the distinct aesthetic established by director Seiji Mizushima and character designer pako. By focusing on the darker, psychological underpinnings of the characters, the film received moderate attention for its experimental narrative structure and mature tone, serving as a stylistic bridge between the light novel source material by Ango Sakaguchi and the reimagined setting of the anime adaptation.
