Vampire in the Garden was released in 2022 as an original net animation produced by Wit Studio. Developed as a high-concept dark fantasy project, the series aimed to explore the contrast between a crumbling, war-torn human society and a lingering vampire civilization, focusing on the unlikely bond between a human girl named Momo and a vampire queen named Fine. The production sought to distinguish itself through a stark, painterly aesthetic that moved away from the typical polished look of modern digital anime, instead opting for an impressionistic style that emphasized mood and environmental storytelling over rigid character detail.

The project was helmed by director Ryōtarō Makihara, who collaborated with character designer Tetsuya Nishio to craft a visual identity that felt both melancholic and fluid.
