Where it came from
Vampire Dormitory is a 2024 television anime adaptation based on the long-running manga series by Ema Toyama. Produced by Studio Blanc, the series was created to translate the shōjo romance tropes of the source material into an animated format, focusing on the story of Mito Yamamoto and her entanglement with a vampire named Ruka.
The character design and visual direction aim to maintain the aesthetic hallmarks of the original manga, emphasizing dramatic, supernatural romantic tension. Upon its release, the series was received primarily by fans of the supernatural shōjo genre, drawing attention for its stylized character portrayals and the specific thematic exploration of cross-species romance common in contemporary josei and shōjo storytelling.
