Vie Durant

Vie Durant was released in 2003 as a two-episode ONA, or original net animation, produced by the studio Radix. At the time, the project served as an experimental entry into the burgeoning digital distribution market for anime, which was still transitioning away from traditional broadcast television models. The story is a somber character study centered on a protagonist navigating a dystopian urban environment, reflecting the darker, moodier tone often associated with independent Japanese animation studios of the early 2000s.

The production sought to create a distinct visual atmosphere that leaned into minimalist aesthetics and fluid, albeit low-budget, character movement. It was illustrated with a focus on moody, desaturated palettes and gritty architecture to emphasize the isolation of its narrative. While it did not reach widespread mainstream commercial success, it remains a notable example of the creative risks studios like Radix were willing to take during the infancy of internet-based anime distribution.
