The World as we know it has been torn apart shattered by a series of natural disasters that have turned civilization into a brutish nightmare of survival and has left whole cities buried beneath the Earth. It's now a lethal and chaotic place, a place where only the strongest and most savage remain alive. The strongest of them all is a giant warrior known as Violence Jack…
Violence Jack tries to avert a civil war brewing among the wretched inhabitants of a subterranean metropolis called Evil Town. Based on a character created by manga horror specialist, Go Nagai.

Where it came from
Violence Jack: Evil Town was released in 1988 as the second installment in the animated adaptation of Go Nagai’s brutal manga series. Produced by Studio 88, the OVA emerged during the height of the 1980s direct-to-video boom in Japan, a period characterized by high creative freedom and a surge in graphic, adult-oriented animation known as the golden age of OVAs.
The production sought to translate Nagai's uncompromising, apocalyptic aesthetic to the screen, focusing on the titular character's role in a lawless, post-cataclysmic Kanto region. Designed to emphasize visceral horror and bleak atmosphere, the animation style reflects the raw, unrefined sensibilities of the late 80s underground scene. While it remains a cult staple among aficionados of transgressive anime, the series is noted more for its historical significance within the extreme horror subgenre than for widespread critical acclaim at the time of its release.
