Virgin Touch: We'll never feel the same

Virgin Touch: We'll never feel the same was released in 2002 by the animation studio ARMS as an original video animation. Arising during a period when the studio was heavily focused on adult-oriented anime titles, this production reflects the stylistic norms and thematic interests of the early 2000s independent animation market in Japan. It was designed to cater to a specific niche of viewers who sought out short-form, high-concept character dramas characterized by the distinct, often experimental visual language prevalent in the studio's catalog at the time.

The production leans into the aesthetic trends of the early 2000s, utilizing digital compositing techniques that were gaining traction within the industry to create stylized character designs and atmospheric environments. While ARMS was known for a wide variety of work, this particular title sits within their efforts to build specialized narratives for the home video market. Like many boutique releases of the era, the project was intended for enthusiasts of the medium's sub-genres, receiving little attention from mainstream critics while remaining a recognizable entry in the studio's expansive filmography.
