The project was conceived as a collaboration between author Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara, who aimed to explore the intersection of artificial intelligence, music, and historical intervention.

The design of the titular character, Vivy, was spearheaded by illustrator loundraw, whose distinct aesthetic emphasizes translucent colors and evocative, melancholic expressions. His work sought to ground the character’s robotic nature within a soft, humanistic visual language, ensuring she felt both synthetic and emotionally resonant. Upon its release, the pilot was well-received for its atmospheric direction and technical polish, successfully generating anticipation for the series’ exploration of a century-long mission to prevent an AI-driven apocalypse.
