Where it came from
Watashi to Piano, which translates to My Piano, was a long-running instructional television program produced by NHK in Japan. The series was designed to provide foundational music education to children and beginners, focusing on basic piano techniques and music theory through a structured, accessible format characteristic of NHK's educational broadcasting standards during the late 20th century.
The program featured instructional visuals and musical arrangements that aimed to demystify the instrument for a broad public audience. While specific design credits for individual segments often belonged to anonymous NHK staff animators and educators, the program's aesthetic reflected the clean, informative, and encouraging design language prevalent in Japanese educational media of the era, which prioritized clarity and pedagogical effectiveness.
