Where it came from
Watt's Up, Girl? is a promotional animated series produced by the Chinese video platform Bilibili. Released as a short-form ONA (Original Net Animation) series, it was designed as a creative marketing initiative to enhance brand engagement and celebrate the platform's community culture. The series utilizes a vibrant, stylized aesthetic that reflects the fast-paced, youth-oriented digital landscape of Bilibili’s primary user base.
The production leans into contemporary character design trends popular within the ACG (Animation, Comic, and Games) scene in China. By focusing on relatable, high-energy narratives, the studio aimed to personify the platform's technical identity and creative spirit. Upon its release, it was received as a stylistic experiment that successfully bridged the gap between corporate branding and the entertainment content expected by the platform's subscribers.
