Welcome to Pia Carrot! 2 DX

Welcome to Pia Carrot!! 2 DX is a three-episode original video animation series released in 2000, serving as a direct continuation of the visual novel franchise originally developed by Cocktail Soft. Emerging from the height of the late-1990s and early-2000s trend of adapting erotic dating simulation games into anime, the series focuses on the daily operations of a themed restaurant and the interpersonal relationships of its staff. It was produced to capitalize on the popularity of the established Pia Carrot brand, which was well-known for its character-driven narrative and distinctive aesthetic.

The character designs for the DX iteration were handled by artists aiming to refine the look of the original visual novel assets for an animated medium. While the series was designed to satisfy a niche fan base familiar with the game’s mechanics and character archetypes, it became a representative artifact of the specific production style common to the era's adult-oriented OVA market. Critically, these adaptations are viewed by animation historians as a bridge between interactive digital storytelling and the serialized OVA format that dominated home video distribution at the turn of the millennium.
