Where it came from
Welcome to the Japari Park is a series of original net animation (ONA) shorts produced to promote the multimedia franchise Kemono Friends. Released in 2020, this second season continued the project's goal of expanding the lore of the Japari Park zoo setting, providing lighthearted character-driven vignettes that serve as a companion to the main anime series and mobile game iterations.
The character designs and animation style maintain the franchise's emphasis on anthropomorphic animal girls, known as Friends. The visual direction was designed to remain consistent with the established aesthetic of the series, focusing on accessible, high-energy storytelling meant to foster engagement with the broader Kemono Friends community. Reception centered on its role as a niche supplement for dedicated fans of the franchise's world-building.
