Where it came from
Why Re-Mix 2002 is a Japanese documentary film that provides an intimate look into the vibrant DJ culture and electronic music scene of the early 2000s. Produced during a period when the art of the remix was undergoing a significant evolution due to the rise of digital production tools, the film captures the technical prowess and creative philosophy of influential DJs who were redefining how audiences experienced popular soundscapes.
The documentary serves as a snapshot of the era's transition from analog turntablism to early digital integration, focusing on the craftsmanship behind live performance and studio experimentation. While the film is considered an obscure archival piece within the broader genre of music documentaries, it is valued by collectors for its raw documentation of the aesthetic trends, technical equipment, and club atmosphere that defined the Tokyo electronic music scene at the turn of the millennium.
