Wind: a breath of heart

Wind: A Breath of Heart was released as a three-episode original video animation (OVA) series in 2002 by the studio Ajiado. It serves as a visual adaptation of the adult visual novel developed by Minori, which had gained significant attention for its emotional storytelling and distinctive character designs. The production was intended to condense the complex, branching narrative of the game into a more linear, cinematic experience that captured the melancholic tone of the original source material.

The character designs for the anime were handled by Kazunori Iwakura, who sought to translate the soft, atmospheric aesthetic of the visual novel into the animation medium. While the visual novel is noted for its exploration of themes like memory and connection, the OVA faced the common challenges of adapting a lengthy game into a short format. Reception from fans was largely focused on the emotional resonance of the music and the nostalgic quality of the setting, which helped solidify the title's place within the early 2000s Japanese animation landscape.
