Xi Yangyang Yu Hui Tailang: Po Jie Shanhai Jue

Xi Yangyang Yu Hui Tailang: Po Jie Shanhai Jue, known internationally as Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf: Defend the Classic of Mountains and Seas, represents a significant entry in the long-running Chinese animated franchise produced by Creative Power Entertaining. The series debuted as part of the studio's strategy to evolve the narrative scope of the Pleasant Goat universe by integrating themes from the ancient mythological text, the Classic of Mountains and Seas, aiming to blend traditional Chinese cultural motifs with the franchise's established slapstick comedy format.

The design and visual direction of this iteration focused on updating the character aesthetics to maintain appeal among younger audiences while introducing a new set of mythical creatures inspired by the source material. Developed by the studio's in-house creative teams, the series sought to revitalize interest in the intellectual property after years of continuous broadcast. It was generally received as a successful transition, noted by critics for its ambitious attempt to marry folklore-inspired world-building with the episodic, conflict-driven humor that has defined the series since its inception.
