Ryuu Yamada is a second-year student at Suzaku High. Ryuu is always late for school, naps in class and gets abysmal grades. His life is a dead bore. The beautiful Urara Shiraishi, on the other hand, is Suzaku High’s brightest student. One day, without explanation, their bodies are swapped! Ryuu ends up in Urara’s body, and Urara in Ryuu’s.

Where it came from
The Yamada and the Seven Witches OVA was released in 2015 as a companion to the television anime adaptation of Miki Yoshikawa's popular manga series. Produced by studio LIDENFILMS, the project served to bridge narrative gaps and provide fans with additional supernatural-comedy scenarios that complemented the main series' run, directed by Seiki Takuno with character designs adapted by Eriko Iida.
The animation reflects the studio's focus on character-driven comedy, maintaining the visual style established in the broadcast series. It was released directly to home media, functioning as a supplementary chapter that deepened the exploration of the Suzaku High School setting and the chemistry between the protagonists, Ryu Yamada and Urara Shiraishi, receiving a steady reception from the existing manga fanbase.
