Where it came from
Released in 2013 to promote the ongoing serialization of Miki Yoshikawa’s manga in Weekly Shōnen Magazine, this ONA was produced by Liden Films under the supervision of Kodansha. The project served as a high-visibility marketing vehicle, aiming to bridge the gap between the static manga panels and an animated format to capture a broader audience by showcasing the series' core premise of supernatural body-swapping and high school romance.
The animation design sought to faithfully replicate Yoshikawa's distinctive character art, emphasizing clear lines and expressive facial features that define the shōnen romantic comedy genre. While the ONA was primarily conceived as a teaser to generate buzz for the wider franchise, it was well-received by the existing readership for its faithful adaptation of the early manga chapters and its effective use of light-hearted, supernatural comedy tropes.
