The emergence of the dimensional tunnel sets the background for a new space era in which space travelling can be designated to planets outside the solar system. Hoshiwata Goro is a space traveller who goes in search for his father whose whereabouts are shrouded with obscurity. His only link to his father is an old photograph. In order to attain his goal, Goro participates in a young space travelling company known as "YAT" which organises tours to different planets. However, in the midst of his journey, he was involved in an accident which resulted in the destruction of the spaceship. As a form of compensation, he had to work for YAT and this sparks off a train of space adventures for him.

Where it came from
YAT Anshin! Uchuu Ryokou was produced by Group TAC and originally aired in Japan starting in 1996. It emerged during a period in the mid-nineties when family-oriented science fiction animation was finding a steady audience on Japanese television, aiming to provide a lighthearted, episodic space adventure that contrasted with the more intense or apocalyptic mecha series popular at the time.
The series focuses on the YAT (Yamamoto Anshin Travel) agency, a struggling interstellar tour company, and was designed to emphasize character-driven comedy over complex lore. By centering the narrative on a group of mismatched space travelers, the production team prioritized a whimsical aesthetic that appealed to younger viewers while maintaining a gentle, episodic structure that allowed for variety in the weekly settings and encounters.
