Where it came from
YAT Anshin! Uchuu Ryokou 2 serves as the direct sequel to the 1996 science-fiction comedy series produced by Group TAC. The show was conceived as a lighthearted space adventure aimed at a younger audience, building upon the original series' premise of a struggling interstellar travel agency. Released in 1998, the production sought to capitalize on the modest success of the first season by expanding the cast and deepening the comedic dynamics between the teenage protagonist Goro and his eccentric crewmates.
The series design maintained the aesthetic hallmarks of late 90s animation, characterized by vibrant, rounded character silhouettes and colorful space settings. Overseen by the creative teams at Group TAC, the visual language was crafted to emphasize accessibility and character-driven humor rather than complex hard science fiction. While the series was not a groundbreaking cultural phenomenon, it remains a recognized entry in the studio's catalog, appreciated for its nostalgic representation of the late-Showa and early-Heisei era approach to children's space anime.
