Sori is a unique young girl: kind, caring and principled well beyond her years. Unfortunately, these qualities also make her a prime target for bullying. She transfers schools, and just when it looks like history is about to repeat itself, stumbles across a mysterious trail of letters that takes her on a magical scavenger hunt through a hidden world that exists just beneath the surface of her new middle school... A scavenger hunt that will lead her to rediscover friendship, the wonders of nature, and the goodness that still exists within humanity.

Where it came from
Yeonui Pyeonji, or The Summer Hikaru Died’s spiritual cousin in terms of emotional resonance, originated as a serialized webtoon by the artist Banzul before being adapted into an animated feature by Studio LICO. Developed within the robust ecosystem of Naver Webtoon, the project was conceived to translate the delicate, watercolor-inspired aesthetic of the original digital comic into a cinematic medium that emphasizes atmosphere and the bittersweet nature of adolescence.
The film centers on the journey of a young girl who discovers a trail of mysterious letters that lead her through a transformative summer. In its design and direction, the studio focused on maintaining the ethereal lighting and grounded character studies that made the source material a success, aiming to capture the quiet, introspective tone of the writing. Upon its release, it was noted for its visual fidelity to the source, receiving praise for its ability to convey profound personal growth through understated animation techniques.
