Yes! BanG_Dream!

Yes! BanG_Dream! was released in 2017 as the inaugural anime adaptation of the BanG Dream! multimedia franchise, which was created by Bushiroad to integrate music, live performances, and animation. Produced by studio Xebec, the series was designed to establish the narrative foundation for the Poppin'Party band, documenting the protagonist Kasumi Toyama’s search for the star-like sound that resonates within her. The animation focuses on the emotional hurdles and camaraderie inherent in forming a high school girl band.

The production sought to balance traditional character-driven storytelling with the franchise's emphasis on authentic musical performance, utilizing a blend of 2D animation and 3D musical sequences. Upon its release, the series received a measured reception from audiences, who appreciated the character development and music, while critics occasionally debated the shift in animation styles between dialogue and performances. It served as a critical entry point for the broader franchise, setting the visual tone for the subsequent iterations that followed.
