Where it came from
Yi Shijie Zhongyao Pu, produced by the studio Soyep, is an original net animation that explores the intersection of traditional Chinese medicine and fantasy. Released as an ONA, the series was developed to bridge the gap between educational cultural heritage and modern entertainment, utilizing the medium to visualize the properties and historical narratives behind various medicinal herbs.
The creative direction of the project emphasizes a blend of stylized character design and atmospheric world-building, common in contemporary Chinese animation aimed at younger, digitally savvy audiences. By focusing on the lore of herbal medicine, the production team sought to present classical knowledge in a more accessible and visually engaging format, garnering interest from viewers who appreciate the integration of folklore with high-quality animation techniques.
