Running late on her first day as a patrol woman for the Bokuto Police Department, spunky moped rider Natsumi Tsujimoto decides to take several shortcuts, only to be chased down and cited by mechanical genius and expert police driver Miyuki Kobayakawa. Upon arrival at the precinct, Natsumi finds out that her new partner is the same woman who ticketed her earlier. At first, she doesn't trust Miyuki, but in a short period of time, they develop an unbreakable friendship that overcomes traffic accidents, reckless drivers and even the strongest typhoons to hit Tokyo.

Where it came from
You're Under Arrest! began as a popular manga series by Kōsuke Fujishima before being adapted into this four-episode original video animation (OVA) series by Studio DEEN in 1994. The production sought to capture the blend of high-speed police procedural action and lighthearted character comedy that defined the original work, focusing on the dynamic between partners Natsumi Tsujimoto and Miyuki Kobayakawa as they patrolled the streets of Tokyo.
The design of the OVA leaned into the detailed mechanical aesthetics of the time, specifically the iconic miniature patrol car and the modified motorcycle used by the protagonists. Under the direction of Kazuhiro Furuhashi, the series was well-received for its polished animation quality and faithful character portrayals, eventually paving the way for a long-running television franchise that expanded upon the grounded, yet adventurous, spirit of these early episodes.
