Where it came from
Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta was produced by Tatsunoko Production in 2013 as a reimagining of Suzuhito Yasuda’s long-running manga series. Unlike the 2008 adaptation, this series was specifically developed to adhere more faithfully to the source material's narrative arc and character development. It centers on the town of Sakurashin, a unique location where humans and supernatural beings coexist under the protection of four teenagers with specialized abilities.
The animation and character design were overseen by Ryo-chimo, who previously worked on the original video animation series that accompanied the manga volumes. His approach focused on dynamic, high-energy action sequences and distinctive visual flourishes that leaned into the vibrant, modern aesthetic of Yasuda’s illustrations. Upon its release, the series was received by fans as a definitive adaptation, lauded for balancing its supernatural premise with character-driven storytelling.
