Yume Miru, Anime on-chan

Yume Miru, Anime on-chan was produced in 2008 as a spin-off project centered on on-chan, the long-standing mascot for Hokkaido Television Broadcasting (HTB). Originally created in 1997 to serve as a friendly ambassador for the station, the character became a regional icon in Hokkaido. This animated series was designed to expand the mascot's narrative reach beyond simple station identification spots, leaning into the lighthearted, surreal aesthetic that had already garnered the character a dedicated local following.

The animation was produced by the studio Kachidoki Studio, which leaned into a simple, stylized approach that prioritized the character's familiar visual cues. The series was created to appeal to both children and the adult fans of the station's wider programming, such as the cult-hit travel show How do you like Wednesday? (Suiyo Dodesho). By transitioning the character into a traditional episodic format, the producers aimed to solidify on-chan's status as a standalone pop-culture entity, resulting in a series that is primarily viewed today as a nostalgic artifact of regional Japanese broadcasting history.
