Where it came from
Yumemiru Jump is a short-form animated work commissioned by NHK, the Japanese public broadcaster. It was produced as part of the network's initiatives to integrate creative, experimental animation into their programming blocks. These projects were generally intended to showcase the potential of Japanese studio artists to craft evocative, bite-sized narratives that appealed to diverse age groups during transitions between major shows.
The piece reflects the signature aesthetic of NHK’s commissioned animation projects from that era, prioritizing fluid motion and whimsical, dream-like visual storytelling. Designed to evoke a sense of playfulness and wonder, the short focuses on themes of aspiration and movement. It was well-received as a polished example of the network's commitment to high-quality, non-commercial artistic expression in public media.
